This Privacy Policy describes how Batuhan Özcan (“we,” “us,” or “I”), an individual developer, collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Wormhole mobile application (“Wormhole” or the “App”) on iOS and Android. By downloading, accessing, or using Wormhole, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.

2. About Wormhole

Wormhole is an AI-powered information discovery app available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It shows you a feed of factual content based on topics you select, and lets you explore deeper into related ideas through tappable keywords (“wormholes”). All factual content and images shown in the App are generated by artificial intelligence.

3. Information We Collect

We aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

3.1 Information you provide

Selected topics. During onboarding and later in the App, you choose topics of interest (for example, History, Astronomy, Art). These choices are stored so we can personalize your feed.
Explored topics. Keywords you tap during a Wormhole session are saved as part of your in-app activity so the App can generate related content for your feed.
Reactions. If you like or dislike a post, that reaction is stored so we can improve the content shown in the App.
Account information (if you sign in). Currently the App uses anonymous accounts only. In the future, we may offer optional sign-in with Apple, Google, or email/password. If you choose to sign in, the relevant identity provider will share with us a stable user identifier and, depending on what you authorize, your email address and display name. We will update this Privacy Policy before any social sign-in feature is launched.

3.2 Information collected automatically

Anonymous user identifier. When you first open the App, we create an anonymous account through Firebase Authentication. This account is identified by a randomly generated user ID. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information to use the App.
Subscription and purchase status. If you subscribe or purchase a Wormhole pack, we receive your subscription/purchase status (active, expired, refunded, etc.) through RevenueCat and the relevant app store. We do not receive your full payment details — those are handled by Apple or Google.
Usage and analytics data. We use Firebase Analytics to collect aggregated usage information, such as which screens you visit, your daily Wormhole session count, feature interactions, and similar events, in order to understand how the App is used and improve it.
Crash and performance data. We use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports, stack traces, and basic device state at the time of a crash, so we can fix bugs and keep the App stable.
Device information. Standard technical information such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, and approximate region (derived from IP address) may be collected for analytics and crash reporting.

3.3 Information we do NOT collect

We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number to use the App in its current version (unless you voluntarily contact us by email).
We do not collect precise location (GPS).
We do not access your contacts, microphone, or camera.
We do not upload, store, or process any images from your device. Wormhole does not allow you to upload images, and no images from your device are sent to our servers or to any third party. All images shown in the App are generated by AI on our backend.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction).

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above only to:

Provide the core functionality of the App (showing your feed, running Wormhole sessions, generating new content based on what you explore).
Manage your subscription, free trial, and in-app purchases.
Enforce daily usage limits associated with your subscription.
Diagnose crashes, debug issues, and improve App performance and stability.
Understand which features are used in aggregate, so we can improve the App.
Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law.

5. AI-Generated Content

All facts, text, and images shown in Wormhole are produced by third-party AI models (currently Anthropic’s Claude for text and FAL for images), called through our Firebase Cloud Functions backend. When the App requests content, we send the relevant topic or keyword to these AI providers. We do not send your anonymous user ID, subscription status, or other personal information to these providers — only the topic or keyword needed to generate the content.

Because content is AI-generated, it may occasionally contain inaccuracies. Wormhole is intended for entertainment and curiosity, not as an authoritative source.

6. Storage of Generated Content

Images that the App displays are AI-generated and hosted in Firebase Storage. Only AI-generated images created by our backend are stored there. No content uploaded or supplied by you is ever stored in Firebase Storage or anywhere else on our servers. The App does not provide a feature for you to upload images, audio, video, or files.

8. Data Storage, Retention, and International Transfers

Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which may be located in the United States or other countries where Google operates. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.
Anonymous account data is retained as long as the App is installed and the account is active.
If you delete the App, your anonymous user ID and associated data may remain on our servers for a period of time before being purged. Because the account is anonymous, it cannot generally be tied back to you after deletion.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us (see Section 12).

9. Children’s Privacy

Wormhole is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country, whichever is higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us at batuhanozcan1605@gmail.com and we will delete it.

The App contains AI-generated factual content covering a wide range of topics. Parental supervision is recommended for younger users.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data-protection laws such as the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act / CPRA (CCPA), Türkiye’s KVKK (Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data), Brazil’s LGPD, and similar laws. These rights may include:

The right to access the data associated with your anonymous account.
The right to request correction or deletion of your data.
The right to object to or restrict certain types of processing.
The right to data portability.
The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
The right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at batuhanozcan1605@gmail.com. Because the App uses anonymous accounts and we do not know your identity, you may need to provide your in-app user ID to help us locate your data.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) between the App and our backend, Firebase Security Rules to restrict access to user data, and Google Cloud Secret Manager for sensitive backend credentials. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including before launching new features such as social sign-in. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. If the changes are material, we will notify you in the App or by other reasonable means before they take effect. Your continued use of Wormhole after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
